Busan Survey / 2016 / digital drawings, slideshow /
Busan Survey is a project to keep traces of the architecture of the 60s to 80s being destroyed to let place to various development projects that are fundamentally changing the structure and the landscape of cities in Korea. Since only few people find interest in this architecture, it is much easier to destroy.
Almost all the districts of Busan are touched by the destruction, and soon or late only few houses or buildings will remain, surrounded by new standardized construction that make a city look like all the others. This situation happens all around the world, but is particulary important in South Korea.
In Busan, I made this research from january to march 2016 in 7 districts (Seo-dong, Bujeon-dong, Choryang-dong, Sajik-dong, Mangmi-dong, Ami-dong, Allak-dong). Some of those districts are still intact but some others are already more than half transformed.
